Through a series of guided sessions, Giten will lead you through the Seven Belts of Tension, exploring the core principles of the Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System (BBTRS®). From addressing fight-or-flight responses to releasing tension, each session is crafted to help you reconnect with your body, release emotional blockages, and unlock your true potential.

Journey Overview
Beginning with an overview of BBTRS® principles and foundational breath techniques, participants progress through sessions focusing on completing interrupted fight-or-flight responses, engaging expression, and releasing tension. Each session is designed to help participants reconnect with their bodies, release emotional blockages, and unlock their true potential. The final session offers reflection and evaluation of progress.
Sessions
Overview
Each of the 7 class sessions applies BBTRS®’s 6 Elements and signature techniques to a different area of the body—beginning at the top of the head and moving down the body, roughly aligning with the chakra system. Below, we forecast the series, including the sequence of “belts” of the body where tension is held, and primary lessons associated with each:
Foundational Principles and Breath Techniques: Gain familiarity with the core principles underpinning BBTRS® and master the foundational breath technique pivotal to its efficacy.
Session 2
Addressing Fight-or-Flight Responses: Complete unresolved fight-or-flight reactions and emerge from states of freeze or dissociation stemming from past trauma.
* Ocular Belt Focus: Concentrate on areas such as the top of the head, temples, forehead, occipital lobe (vision center of the brain), eyes, cheeks, ears, and the base of the skull—the regions commonly tense due to vigilance for threats, often resulting in headaches.
Session 3
Express Yourself and Regain Flexibility: Activate expression and restore flexibility to the neck (cervical) region.
* Oral and Cervical Belts Focus: Pay attention to the jaw, chin, mouth, nose, ears, neck, throat, and tongue—the zone associated with expression and “finding our voice,” frequently harboring unresolved anger and frustration in the jaw.
Session 4
Releasing Chest Armoring for Connection: Release protective armoring around the chest, developed to shield the heart. Soften this armor to allow the natural impulse to connect with others to emanate from the core. Remember, “core” stems from the French word for heart (coeur).
* Thoracic Belt Focus: Focus on the chest, shoulders, upper back, arms, heart, and lungs—the area connected to emotional injury.
Session 5
Softening Rib Cage Armoring for Deeper Breath: Release tension around the rib cage and organs, which often become armored due to lack of protection. This encourages greater rib movement for deeper breaths and softens physical armoring of the abdomen, releasing layers of tension.
* Diaphragmatic and Abdominal Belts Focus: Address the waist, belly, rib cage, solar plexus, diaphragm, organs under the diaphragm, and abdominal muscles—the regions housing emotions, nourishment, and the seat of pain and pleasure.
Session 6
Grounding Energy and Unlocking Sexuality: Introduce movement into the lower back to ground energy and unlock stagnant energy around sexuality, facilitating the flow of bio-energy up the spine.
* Pelvic Belt Focus: Concentrate on the pelvis, its organs, core muscles, pelvic floor, buttocks, and lower limbs—the area associated with power, fight-or-flight responses, sexual feelings, and grounding.
Session 7
Reflecting on Progress and Integration:
Review the entire practice to reassess the body’s openness and integration over the past six sessions.

Your Guide
BBTRS® creator Giten Tonkov shares a mastery of body-oriented therapies that has evolved from more than 25 years of learning, exploration, and work with thousands of clients. A Licensed Massage Therapist and certified Breath & Body Oriented Therapist, he developed BBTRS® on a years-long personal journey of recovering his own body, which carried the impact of a childhood accident. His body “remembered” the accident in ways his mind did not, and the suffering was trapped within him. Throughout many years of working with different bodywork, movement, and meditation techniques, he identified a series of tools that came together into a single practice that he has been sharing with thousands across the world for more than 10 years now.
