Scientists have long been fascinated by how our bodies react to trauma. When we encounter a traumatic event, our body’s “fight or flight” system is instantly stimulated. This response is a natural survival mechanism, but the tension and stress from these reactions can linger in our bodies for days, years, or even decades. Even the stress of daily life can significantly impact our quality of life, health, and relationships.
Prevalence of Trauma
Research shows that trauma is a widespread issue affecting millions of people worldwide. According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, 70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives. This equates to approximately 223.4 million people. Moreover, a study published in the journal “Traumatology” found that trauma exposure is nearly universal, with 89.7% of a representative sample of adults reporting exposure to at least one traumatic event. These statistics underscore the profound impact trauma can have on our lives and the importance of effective therapeutic interventions.
Introduction to BBTRS®
This is where BioDynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System® (BBTRS®) comes into play. BBTRS® works because our automatic, physiological stress responses are quite similar to what happens during a spiritual experience—we enter an altered state. BBTRS’s therapeutic tools can access that altered state—and gently release what trauma has left behind. From this loving and therapeutic perspective, even past traumatic experiences have the potential to assist in deep and healthy transformations. And future experiences become more layered, subtle, and integrated.
