Greetings to all fellow seekers of healing and self-discovery,
Triggers act as emotional catalysts, inducing overwhelming feelings or distress, thereby significantly impacting our well-being. As a therapist deeply immersed in the intricacies of emotions and feelings, I’ve come to understand triggers as our nervous system’s normal reaction to external stimuli. They have the power to influence our thought patterns, our behaviors, and even transport us to the past.
Our triggers often emerge from the meaning and interpretation we attach to external events, woven together with the stories we carry from our personal histories. It’s not uncommon to find ourselves reacting strongly to someone’s actions, as they inadvertently mirror past situations. Many individuals embark on a spiritual journey in a quest to untangle themselves from the cycle of reactions that lead to suffering or cause harm to others.
